Our Mission

With 189,454 miles of river and over 3,000 lakes and reservoirs, California has one of the most diverse collections of bodies of fresh water in the world.

However, population growth, energy and agricultural demands, and pollution from sewage and chemical runoff have endangered this valuable natural resource. If such trends continue, clean water will become increasingly scarce for the 40 million people who call this state their home.

Through legislative advocacy, education, community engagement, and cleanups, the California Water Conservancy seeks to remedy this issue and implement its vision of water conservation and sustainable water usage that will ensure continued access to clean water for decades to come.

Doing the right thing,
at the right time.
